Arohanui Hospice encourages community to “Buy Nothing New” this October

In a drive to promote sustainability and support local charities, Arohanui Hospice is encouraging the community to participate in Buy Nothing New October. Throughout the month, locals are invited to visit one of Arohanui Hospice’s four shops and purchase quality second-hand items, with all proceeds supporting the hospice’s essential work.

Buy Nothing New October is part of a broader movement that emphasizes conscious consumerism and the environmental benefits of reusing and recycling. By shopping second-hand, participants reduce waste and support local causes that directly benefit the community.

“Arohanui Hospice relies on the generosity of our community, and shopping at our stores is an easy way to support our mission,” says Michelle Connor, Director of the Foundation, “We hope people will take up the challenge this October, knowing that every purchase helps us continue our work of providing care and support to patients and their families when they need it most.”

Participants are encouraged to bring friends, tour all four shops, and enjoy a fun day of treasure hunting, all while supporting a great cause.

A little means a lot
